Abstract.

This study is a part of a multiyear research and aims to describe a prototype model of physics learning in senior high school that uses thinking maps on inquiry-based learning. Thinking maps is a mind mapping that can be used to help concept acquisition of students. The learning model is the result of research and development with the 4-D model to build higher-order thinking skills of students in physics learning at senior high school. The study used three stages, namely define, design and develop stages sustainably designed and comprehensive. The learning model was tested by experts and users were subsequently empirically tested on a limited subject in the three classes of senior high school at Malang. The study used questionnaires, higher-order thinking tests, and interview guides. The results showed that the model of physics learning with thinking maps on inquiry-based learning can build up higher-order thinking skills of students, especially for Static Fluid subject matter. The learning model needs to be re-examined empirically with the broader subject to test the effectiveness of learning models toward higher-order thinking skills.
